Public service award for Streetwise Environmental
We are rather proud that we have won an award from APSE (The Association for Public Service Excellence). We were winners of the award for Best Employment and Equality Initiative, an area that we take very seriously and have strived to ensure we go above and beyond what is expected of us. So we really are delighted to have been recognised in this way.
The APSE annual Service Awards are for all local authorities and their public sector partners across the UK. The awards are unique in that they’re designed to recognise frontline services that are delivered to local communities, by local councils.
The awards attracted over 320 submissions with over 100 organisations taking part from across the UK, and the selection process was rigorous.
Robert Alderton, Operations Director; Mark Stevenson, Contracts Manager; Jayne Neary, Finance Manager and Barry Ingle, Divisional Manager of Streetwise Environmental attended the Awards ceremony on 8th September and were presented with the Award for this category by Northern Irish broadcaster and television presenter, Sarah Travers.
Paul O’Brien, APSE Chief Executive, was delighted to see such a high calibre of entries this year. He said, "Despite the issues local government faces at this present moment, it is wonderful to see such exciting projects being carried out by so many dedicated people. These finalists are a credit to their councils and their communities."
John Scott-Lee, managing director of Streetwise Environmental said, "The judges were looking for frontrunners in implementing innovative ideas that support continuous improvement and adaptation in local services. I’m so pleased we’ve been recognised in this important category. A huge ‘well done’ to the Streetwise team."
