Fast forward to spring!
At the time of writing, we’re being battered by the latest in a long line of storms, rain is lashing at the windows (again), and it will be dark by 5pm. At Streetwise Environmental, we are cheering ourselves up by starting to make plans for a spectacular floral display in West Bridgford.
Last year we were delighted that our planters, barrier baskets, hanging baskets and three-tiered floor standing planters in Central Avenue were widely appreciated, and we are gearing up for an even better display in 2016. Planting in town centres helps to soften public spaces, providing colour and vibrancy to an urban environment. At Streetwise Environmental, in conjunction with Rushcliffe Borough Council, we are committed to improving our local surroundings.
We are also offering local businesses the opportunity to sponsor their own display. Streetwise Environmental will erect, plant and maintain each individual display that will be branded with the name of the participating business. Sponsorship opportunities also exist for flower beds in the local parks, and businesses can choose whether to sponsor a display for spring, summer, winter, or a permanent exhibition including all seasons.
John Scott-Lee, managing director of Streetwise Environmental says, “We know that plants and flowers produce feelings of well-being amongst shoppers and visitors, and that doing something for the community sends out a very strong positive marketing message. We’re happy to work with sponsors to produce a display that meets their individual requirements, and allows them to communicate their own brand personality.”
Businesses interested in sponsoring a display, small or large, should contact Robert Alderton at ralderton@streetwiseenvironmental.co.uk to discuss these opportunities and their own wishes. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff will happily discuss your requirements and come up with a planting scheme that will best suit your business and premises.
Members of the public can also get involved. Last year, the general colour scheme in Central Avenue was pastel shades of purple, pink, blue and yellow, and featured plants such as surfinia and geraniums. While we are in our planning stages for spring/summer 2016, we are inviting suggestions for colours and planting schemes and would love to receive ideas from residents and visitors alike. We’re not promising that we’ll be able to carry out everyone’s individual wishes, but we’d love the finished displays to represent a range of ideas from the community.
Get in touch with your suggestions on Facebook, Twitter, or by e-mailing us on streetwise@streetwiseenvironmental.co.uk

Boring but important!
